Cheviot Ram Sale

On Monday 5th October 2009 the Show and Sale of Hill Cheviot Rams was held in Lockerbie market when a total of 338 rams were forward.

The Judge, Gavin Douglas, Upper Hindhope, Jedburgh awarded the following prizes:-

A large crowd attended the sale with a notable welsh contingent resulting in 91 rams finding new homes in Wales.

Topping the sale at £10,000 was a shearling from JF Irving & Son of Mountbenger, Yarrow. This scrapie group one ram, a son of Crossdykes Drambuie, was successfully sold to Stirkfield Farms of Biggar, Lanarkshire.

Following at £7,500 was the first entry from the Glengeith pen of LW Goodfellow, Elvanfoot, Biggar. This stylish ram, by Castle Omen, attracted the eye of joint purchasers W N Douglas, Catslackburn and W A Fleming, Hislop.

Close behind selling for £7,000 was an entry from IHG Warden of Skelfhill, Hawick. This scrapie group one ram, a son of Hislop Keltic, was knocked down to joint buyers T Tennant, Gilmanscleugh and O Jackson, Cossarshill.
